The goals of the workshop were to:

• Review current hypothesis-driven research on UHMWPE
• Look at key research questions motivated by real or perceived clinical issues
• Explore avenues for the future

The workshop was organized by Dr. Av Edidin with invited speakers: Dr. Steven Kurtz (Exponent, Inc.), Dr. Clare Rimnac (Case Western Reserve University), and Dr. Orhun Muratoglu (Mass General Hospital, Harvard Medical School).

A miniature CD-ROM (shown to the right) was available at the ORS Meeting. It contains the talks featured at the Polyethylene 2001 Workshop.
